Selena Gomez
Selena Marie Gomez (/s@/li:n@/ 'goUmez/s@–LEE-n@/ GOH-mez (born July 22, 1992)) was an American performer, actress, and producer. Gomez started her acting career with the popular children's TV show Barney & Friends (2002-2004). As a teenager she gained acclaim in the role of Alex Russo on the Disney Channel television series Wizards of Waverly Place (2007-2012). Alongside her television career, Gomez appeared in the films Another Cinderella Story (2008), Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (2009), Ramona and Beezus (2010), Monte Carlo (2011), Spring Breakers (2012), Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016), and The Dead Don't Die (2019) in which she voiced Mavis in the Hotel Transylvania film franchise (2012-2022). Gomez has also been the executive producer on the Netflix television series 13 Reasons Why (2017-2020) and Living Undocumented (2019) through her production company, July Moon Productions. She also has a role in the Hulu mystery-comedy show Only Murders in the Building (21-21-222). Gomez has been praised for her work, and she received nominations for an award such as a Golden Globe Award. She also won the Primetime Emmy Award for producer.
Gomez released three albums with her former band, Selena Gomez & the Scene and the Scene. All three albums made it into the top ten of the US Billboard 200 and were certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA): Kiss & Tell (2009), A Year Without Rain (2010) and Sun is Down (2011). The album she released as her solo debut, Stars Dance (2013) is atop the U.S. Billboard 200, while its first single, "Come & Get It" hit the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100. Gomez's second studio album, Revival (2015), debuted at number one in the US it was certified platinum by RIAA which led to three US top ten hits: "Good for You", "Same Old Love", "Hands to Myself". Her third studio album, Rare (2020), made her the third consecutive album to reach number one album in the US and featured the lead track, "Lose You to Love Me", her first number-one hit song across the US and Canada. Revelacion the Spanish-language EP is due out in 2021. She was nominated to the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. The singer has been recognized with numerous awards and was named Billboard's Female of the Year in 2017 She also set 15 Guinness World Records. Time magazine named Her one of the 100 most powerful individuals in the world in 2020. She is a popular social media celebrity and is the most-followed musician and actress on Instagram. Gomez has also launched perfume, makeup and handbag collections. She has been involved with a variety of charitable organizations and served as a UNICEF ambassador since the age of 17.
