Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She was co-founder of The Huffington Post, is the founder and CEO of Thrive Global as well an writer of 15 novels. Arianna Huffington is a journalist, TV personality, philanthropist and author for over ten years. She also is the owner of The Huffington Post, an independent, liberal online newsmagazine. Following her move from Greece to England from Greece at 16, she received a MA with a major in Economics from Cambridge University. At 21 she became president of the renowned debate club The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. After after her college graduation, she was an influential right-wing syndicated reporter. After a few years later she created The Huffington Post which featured critiques of the current political landscape. Arianna was able to attract several prominent contributors who posted their views on culture and politics. Arianna's celebrity status started in 2003, after she was a candidate for an independent in the California recall vote in order to replace then-Governor Davis. In addition, she was the leader of an Detroit project to promote the use of fuel-efficient cars. She was named one of the Most Influential Women in Media in 2009 by Forbes in 2009, and was awarded 12th position on the list. The same year, the Guardian named her on the 100 most influential media on their list. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her president of the media group and also included several other AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos the management and journalism consultant. Though she was close to her father it was the relationship she shared with her mother which shaped her entire life. At a young age, she displayed her leadership skills that she is still known for. At the age of sixteen, she left America to the United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. In the time of her studies she joined the Cambridge Union debating group where she rose to become the first female president and only foreign president. In 1972, she earned an advanced degree in Economics. The career of a journalist and television host began after she graduated.
